Becoming a model FAQ
Can I make a modelling application on behalf of a friend or relative?
Unless there are circumstances that physically prevent your friend or relative from making any application, you can’t make an application on their behalf.
Modelling is as much about attitude and confidence as it is about having the right look, so it’s important that, if someone wants to apply, they’re confident enough to do so themselves.
Do I need professional photos to apply to become a model?
No you don’t need a professional photographer to shoot your photos. Do make sure your photos are shot clearly and in good lighting though. Poor lighting and blurry images will affect your chances of being accepted.
Also, make sure you keep it simple. We’re interested in you and you only, so please keep to the required application criteria: one full body shot and two make-up free headshots.
What happens after I submit my modelling application?
Once you’ve submitted your application to become a model, we’ll review it as soon as possible. We get a huge volume of applications, so we unfortunately can’t reply to every submission.
We encourage anyone who doesn’t receive a reply to not be discouraged from submitting an application to other model management companies – there are a number of reasons an application might be rejected.
Should I wear make-up for my modelling application?
No. We require three photos for each submission: one full body shot and two make-up free headshots. This simply helps us judge whether you’re a good fit for 7even model management.
Do I need modelling experience to apply?
No you don’t. If you have the look, attitude and confidence we’re looking for, that’s the most important thing when considering a modelling application.
What do you look for in a new model?
This is impossible to answer as we have lots of different categories of models to work with many different brands. We’re a diverse and encompassing model management agency that is open to all types of models and model applications, regardless of age, ethnicity and gender.
Do I need a portfolio to apply for an agency?
NO you do NOT require a portfolio to apply to an agency. Photographs taken on your phone are suitable, please make sure they are taken in natural light with minimal makeup. Include a close up of your face and full length front and back.
However, if you have a professional portfolio and is to agency standard, we will happily accept this and take a look.
Does 7even accept everyone who applies?
No. We decline many applications weekly to ensure we only have the right models on our books. We receive approximately 200-500 applications weekly and those who are successful are invited in to meet our bookers if local to our office or have never professionally modelled before. We are an extremely busy agency securing work for our models, so it would prove impossible for a booker to invite everyone in to meet them and carry out her regular agency duties. Our philosophy is to only accept an applicant who we feel would make a fantastic addition to our agency portfolio and be apart of the 7EVEN family. 7EVEN models are reliable, eager & committed with a great work ethic.
We are very proud to have a diverse range of models, providing lots of choice for our clients to find the perfect model for them for each individual job. We like to think we are an agency with a difference; we like to know all our models and clients on a personal basis.
Are there any fees?
We always advise models that applicants should always be aware that all successful and reputable agencies will NEVER charge someone to be on their books.
The only necessary cost to the model will be to build their portfolio which will be done through photographers recommended by us or sourced by the model. The model will pay the photographer direct.
What is your commission rate?
Our commission rate is 20% and this is deducted before payment is paid to the model.
How often can I expect work and is work guaranteed?
This can vary on many factors for all models. It is important to understand it is the client and not the agency that chooses the model for their campaigns. No agency can therefore guarantee work and any who do should be avoided. We at 7EVEN are completely transparent and make no false promises, nor guarantees.
Some models are booked regularly, some occasionally, whilst others may not be so lucky and land nothing. This is the game sadly, this industry is very competitive. We will always guarantee that we submit all those to clients when they are suitable and match the clients brief. We also ensure professional, ethical representation at all times and expect the same from our models.
We receive endless briefs a day (including weekends!) so as long as you have up to date photos and sizes our clients will see you. We want our models working as much as they do, that is where we earn our money, please do understand this!
What happens when I sign with an agency?
We will put you forward for all briefs were you meet the criteria as well as push you daily to new clients. As and when a client contacts us to meet you for a casting or book you direct for a job, we will contact you immediately. Sometimes we might contact you beforehand if the client requests us to do so to confirm availability on a number of shortlisted models or maybe to confirm specific details. Please know we will not contact you each and every time you are submitted for work. It is obviously crucial that all models profiles are kept up to date and to keep the agency informed of any changes whatsoever.
Additional applicant information
Please Note; we cannot consider incomplete applications, or those with incorrect information. We need your height and measurements, as well as photographs. We simply do not have the time to reply to unsuccessful applications as much as we would like to.
